Ottawa Visitor CenterNo Vote"The Ottawa National Forest Visitor Center is a must-see stop for anyone traveling through Watersmeet, Michigan who enjoys the outdoors. Information, outdoor and indoor fun, and programs are available at the Ottawa Visitor Center all year long.

During the winter months, hours are Wednesday thru Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and snowmobilers can ride right up to the Center for a warm cup of coffee, tea or hot cocoa.

The Visitor Center staff is happy to show visitors a variety of nature related films in the auditorium. Visitors are also invited to take advantage of the information library and to browse through the museum. Maps are available to read, study and purchase. There are several varieties of mounted animals at the center including a white Eastern Timber Wolf in a dramatic pose.

Each season, June through January, a variety of programs are offered to visitors free of charge. Programs cover a wide range of interesting topics with a variety of speakers. Programs last an average of one hour. Check the schedule for dates and times. During the summer months, they are usually held on Thursday evenings and during the winter months, on Saturday afternoon.

Environmental books, maps, nature-related items, clothing and artwork are available to purchase at the Visitor center. The Ottawa Interpretive Association (OIA) keeps the Visitor Center stocked with merchandise and proceeds are turned back to the Forest in the form of grants for Forest projects." - FS & Recreation.Gov
