Chilao Visitor CenterNo Vote"The Chilao Visitor Center is located in the Chilao Recreation Area. Once you visit this beautiful site, you'll understand why it was chosen years ago as the summer home of the Gabrielino Native Americans.

Check the location of Chilao on the relief map to get a "bird's eye view" of the spectacular peaks and deep canyons that surround this area. (Descendants of the original Gabrielino tribe are pictured, exploring where their ancestors once lived.)

Learn the history of this portion of the San Gabriel Mountains and the current recreational opportunities it provides. Learn to recognize some of the local wildlife, and play the "Who walked here?" game to see if you can identify the footprint of some of the local animals. Mt. Baldy Schoolhouse Visitor CenterNo Vote"The historic Mt. Baldy Schoolhouse, located in Mt. Baldy Village, CA, has been transformed into a beautiful visitor center. An indoor trail leads you on a short, simulated trip from the foot of the mountains to the high peaks. Follow the path, and watch the change in vegetation and terrain. Keep an eye out for signs of wildlife - or evidence of who may have passed that way. Exhibits of the early days of this historic schoolhouse are also housed in this beautiful Center.
